The Rested Revolution

Now More Than Ever

This is an invitation for people who are tired of being tired.

This is an invitation for people who are craving real rest like

  • better sleep

  • consistent energy levels

  • a clearer mind

  • easeful focus

  • full-body comfort

  • inner peace

This is an invitation for people who have a feeling there's a better way but aren't quite sure what that means for themselves.

This is an invitation for people who value alignment: body, mind and soul. In their self and in their community.

I invite you to join me in the movement to become radically rested to live the way you really mean to. This is the Rested Revolution.

Oxford Dictionary definition for rest, as seen on @the.rested.revolution

While rest is a basic concept, it’s also one of the most overlooked aspects of life in our 21st-century North American nightmare- I mean, dream*. The lack of rest bolsters normalized anxiety levels of the masses; prioritizes more time on the internet at the end of long workdays that leave us drained than the discomfort of taking care of ourselves; and it means something different to everyone, depending on who you are and what circumstances you are experiencing. Like stress management, rest doesn’t look or feel the same over time but we can always choose it.

I believe when we give ourselves what we need, we get (more of) what we want. And many of us are in serious, overdue need of rest.

At the beginning of the year, I walked away from a corporate salary exhausted and with a heavy bag of emotions. My fatigue had been backlogged on every level: physically, mentally, and emotionally. (Even though I never had trouble falling or staying asleep, getting all my hours a night.)

Throughout my 20's, rest had been synonymous with 'not doing' which was equivalent to not working, not learning, not growing, not valuable, not worthy. Cue the 'youthful' declaration, "I'll sleep when I'm dead!" Actually, I was a different type of dead and sleep wasn't the kind of rest I was craving.

My participation in the Rat Race (also dressed up for a while as the glamorous Hustle) was fun for a while. How exciting to balance on tall legs of what I thought was righteous struggle, ambition, big dreams and the passions that my very character hinged on. Except they were sort of useless in my desperate swimming through the relentless seas of capitalist, consumption-centric, and hyper-productive culture. My dear friend Sara would say (originally authored by Gucci Mane), I was very much "lost in the sauce". Awareness was only the first stepping stone on my path to realignment.

Over the past decade, I've been learning how to rest and heal. It is not enough to simply stir together ingredients of an ‘active lifestyle’: it’s not a recipe and it is so much deeper than that. (Thank goodness.) It used to be automatic, but not impactful, to veg out on the couch for a weekend while lowkey mentally bracing/stressing for another week in a job I never seemed to have enough energy for. Or hanging out with my friends with a nagging feeling in the back of your mind. Sound familiar?

As a recovering-perfectionist, rest has ultimately unlocked the performance and quality I strove for through so many years of chasing and juggling. I managed and released my anxiety and depression symptoms through working with my physical body while deeply healing my mental and emotional bodies. More on that later.

Accumulating 10+ years experience and training, I’m waking up rested on the daily. I want to share it all with you so you can rest right away, with deep impact. I also want to challenge you to experience rest differently than you have before. I see that more goodness- more excellence- is possible in the world through healthy and happy people moving through the world clearly and strongly. We need ourselves wholly now more than ever.
